How do I submit a nomination to the 50 Years, 50 Families program?

There are 3 ways to submit a nomination to the program. To submit your nomination online, visit the “submit nomination” section of this website, fill in the required information, and click submit. You can also download and print a paper application or pick up an application at any Roomful Express location and return it to any store location or: 50 Years, 50 Families, PO Box 4588, Pittsburgh, PA 15205-9509.

Can I nominate myself?

Self-nominations to the program are prohibited.

What are the judging criteria for 50 Years, 50 Families?

Nominations will be evaluated based on demonstration of compelling need, the circumstances which led to that need and evident care and consideration by the nominator in preparing the application materials.

Who will be judging the entries?

Entries will be judged by Roomful Express representatives and representatives from United Way of Allegheny County.

How long will the 50 Years, 50 Families program last?

The 50 Years, 50 Families program will start on 4/4/08 and conclude on 9/18/08. All nominations must be postmarked or submitted online by 9/2/08.

When does the 50 Years, 50 Families segment air on KDKA?

The segment will air each Thursday during the 5 or 6PM news.

Will the information I submit be kept confidential?

Yes. The information you submit will be used for the sole purpose of this program as outlined in our privacy policy.

Who is eligible to submit a nomination to the 50 Years, 50 Families program?

Anyone may submit a nomination for another party. Please note that self-nominations are prohibited.

Can I submit multiple nominations to the 50 Years, 50 Families program?

You are welcome to submit multiple nominations if you know more than one person who would benefit from participation in the program. Please note that nominations are kept on file and considered each week for the duration of the program, so, while not prohibited, submitting duplicate nominations will not improve chances of selection and is therefore discouraged.

Who will be notified once a recipient is selected?

Once a recipient is selected, both the recipient and the nominator will be contacted via phone or email.

When will winners receive notification of their selection?

Each week’s winners will be notified of their selection as soon as possible after the selection is made. Please refrain from e-mailing regarding the status of your nomination. By providing your correct contact information, we will notify all winners.

How do I claim my prize?

After being selected, you will receive a packet containing information about the program and several forms requiring your signature. Once the necessary forms have been signed and returned to Roomful Express, a certificate indicating the items for which it may be redeemed will be mailed to you. Take the certificate to any Roomful Express location and the store manager will help you select your items and arrange for delivery.

Do you perform any background investigation to guarantee the legitimacy of entries?

Yes. Prior to receiving the prize, each recipient must go through a screening process intended to confirm the legitimacy of the information on the entry materials.
