ROOMFUL EXPRESS marks 50th anniversary with 50 Years, 50 families community outreach program
Pittsburgh-Based Furniture Retailer Provides Home Furnishings to Those in Need
PITTSBURGH, PA (April 4, 2008) — Roomful Express Furniture is commemorating its 50th anniversary with the launch of 50 Years, 50 Families, a community outreach program that will provide furniture to families in need throughout the Pittsburgh community. The program, which starts on April 4th and runs through September 4th, invites people to nominate families in the Pittsburgh region who have a special need for home furnishings.
“This program is a way to show our gratitude to a community that has given us 50 successful years in business,” said Michael Kuhn, president, Roomful Express. “There’s definitely a need and hopefully we’ll be able to make a difference in at least 50 local families’ lives.”
Roomful Express is also teaming up with United Way of Allegheny County to help facilitate the program. As the program’s charity partner, United Way will further its mission to impact critical community needs by selecting the first four recipients of the program independently. A United Way representative will also serve on the judging panel to select the remaining 46 recipients.
Nomination forms will ask individuals to explain in 250 words or less why the person or family is deserving of and should be selected for new furniture. A selection committee consisting of Roomful Express and United Way representatives will review the submitted nomination forms to select the recipients. The committee will choose two deserving families each week for a total of fifty families. The retailer expects to give away nearly $150,000 in free furniture over the course of the program.
